Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description:
Our client designs and builds large structural and moving equipment for the transportation, industrial, military and display and trade show markets. They have been serving these markets for over 50 years and due to a strong and well executed business plan is growing rapidly. They seek an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer. This company is a true world leader in their field and is one of a handful of companies that compete globally. Each system is one of a kind and custom designed for each of their clients. The ideal candidate for this opportunity will have experience with Mechanical engineering for large capital equipment. Experience designing any industrial capital equipment with high torque, low speed motors, drives, hydraulics, elevators, lifts, conveyors REQUIRED Responsibilities: 1. Work on producing engineering designs following the customer specifications and Will also 2. Work on the standardization of existing products, in order to help facilitate the company’s ongoing continuous improvement efforts. 3. Work on new product development efforts and on the improvement of existing products 4. Fully comply with the company’s ISO quality requirements. 5. Embrace and help facilitate all of the company’s ongoing lean manufacturing initiatives 6. Participate in various continuous improvement activities related to the company’s products and work processes. 7. Assist the Engineering Manager in other areas of the company’s operations, to the extent required (such as assisting the Purchasing Manager in specifying new materials or component parts). 8. Seek to keep labor time on those tasks or under the amount of time budgeted for those tasks 9. Record at least 2 non-conformances, employee suggestions and/or customer complaints per quarter 10. Participate in at least 1 kaizen or 6S event during each quarter

Requirements:
No Relocation- candidate must be located in the CT area SENIOR MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER – Mechanical Engineer capable of leading a project and directing designers and drafts people. o Knowledgeable in fabrication, manufacturing and the application of power transmission products o Ability to develop and design from verbal concepts and sketches o High level proficiency with Solid works and Auto CAD, stress analysis by hand or through software based programs o Bachelors degree in Engineering and at least 7 years working in an engineering role o PE qualification. Experience designing any industrial capital equipment with high torque, low speed motors, drives, hydraulics, elevators, lifts, conveyors REQUIRED
